I do hope I am not interrupting you, good Hope. I'm afraid I have some curiosity in regards to the Null.

Will you be like them and sacrifice us for your sake and safety?

I have no intention of sacrificing anyone.

Do the others, though? I truly mean no offense in my asking but I find that it's important to understand where we stand with you as we're already well aware of where we stand with them.

We have different opinions. However, you can speak to those who have been here for some time - when the others wished to sacrifice some of you, I refused to allow it. I will continue to do so, should another such situation arise.

It is a difficult and painful position to be put in and I would like to personally thank you for your refusal. Death is never the answer, as easy a route it can offer.

You do not need to thank me. I'll never support sacrificing any of you. I cannot control what the others do, but I can ensure that you'll come back regardless.

I do appreciate your unwillingness to sacrifice us but I must admit that you should not bring back the dead so hastily, no matter how they died. Death is meant to matter.

You would prefer to stay dead?

I... I don't want to say I would prefer to stay dead because that would be a lie but I don't want to take the meaning of death away. Do you understand? We humans live our lives once and when death is taken away from us so, too, is the meaning of life.

You do not believe that you can find more meaning by staying alive?

It suits our purposes for you all to live for as long as possible. I also personally do not wish for anyone to die, god or human or whatever other race is here. However, if someone does wish to die permanently, I would consider their request.

You truly do not understand humanity, do you? Our lives are so short so that we cherish all that we have; so that every moment is precious. I understand why you require us to be longer lived than we usually are but even you must see the cruelty of death and rebirth.

It does damage in ways you can't see, in ways you might not even be able to comprehend. I cannot fault you for that but I must ask that you do not bring me back should I die here. Every journey must end.

I think that many here would disagree with you.

But if that's your request, I'll honor it.
