[Hope's voice is clear and clipped.]
If you would like to leave a message, you may do so here. I can't promise to respond. I have many demands on my time, and this sort of thing is far down the list. Still, if you would like to, you may.

[That problem settled, Chris moves onto the next question he'd had; he rummages around in his pocket for a moment, before pulling out the burnt coppery-coloured computer chip that Newt had found probably over a year ago at this point. He holds it up so it's visible on the screen.]
I'd uh, also wanted to ask you about this. I got it from someone else here ages ago, and I think they found it in the caves; I dunno if they ever told you or any of the others about it, but uh... I figured it's worth asking about, since it's like, machine-people that are after you guys, right?
[And sure, this chip--or whatever it is--might've come from anywhere, but it seems suspect that it would be damaged and found in the caves if it were just from a computer or something.]

Yes, that looks like something that would have come from them. Probably when they first attacked - we injured quite a few of them, back then. Before they killed us.
[He says it evenly, though it isn't exactly a nice subject.]
I thought we'd gotten rid of everything they left, but it looks like that wouldn't work anymore anyway.

Do you want this part destroyed too? Because I'll totally drop it off at your Temple when I'm out later.
[Might be cathartic.]
But um, I was wondering if you could tell me what it's made of? It looks like copper, but there are reasons why computer chips aren't usually made out of copper, so... I guess that ties into asking about why it's burnt. Did you guys um, use fire or electricity, or something else? I swear I have a point to asking.
[He really does, and is very genuinely trying to help.]

[And also perhaps because Hope's holding an understandable grudge.]
I could not say for sure. Technology isn't something that we have a great deal of experience with, though I suppose that should be obvious by now. It may be an alloy they created themselves.
As to how it got burnt, it could have been either of those things. We can fight in a variety of ways, if necessary. As can they. I am afraid I didn't participate in the fighting myself, so I can't be sure.

[He'll just leave it on Hope's altar later.]
Okay, um, well... I was asking because copper's not usually used for computer chips and whatever since it's got some problems. Corrosion's a big one, and it's also really conductive, which is great for energy use and not overheating and whatever, but it makes controlling the information flow really hard.
[Which he'd guess would be a big problem for some sort of artificial intelligence or machine-based lifeform or such.]
So if it is copper, or mostly copper, or even something totally different that's also really conductive, you might be able to really screw them up by going the electricity route. Overload them enough and they may stop like... Being able to send signals to the right places, or something. But I'm not totally sure; I'm not an engineer or physicist or whatever, I just know some stuff about computers.
[He just want to provide any sort of help he can, so he might as well put that out there. And he knows Hope said he doesn't fight, but he figures if Hope thinks it's a valid idea he'll pass it along to those that do.]

[None of the gods are that knowledgeable about technology - which is why, when they make tech equipment for the people here, it tends to be full of glitter and cobwebs instead of what should actually be there. So that is, in fact, a useful piece of knowledge.]
I'll pass it on to the others. Maybe we will be able to use that, should they attack again.
[Every little bit helps.]
Thank you. I do appreciate it.
Yeah, no problem, I just hope it's actually useful. We're all uh, kind of in this together, right?
[So working together just seems like the only reasonable thing to do, even if he didn't like several of the gods personally at this point.]

In return for your kindness, I'll give you some of your supplies - more coffee beans, if you'd like.

That'd be pretty awesome; thanks, Hope.
