[So he's heard from a couple of sources on the kind of person Hope is. But it's always best for him to hear and see for himself, right?

Danse stops at the entranceway, his shadow stretching across the threshold and deep into the temple. This will be the third god he's speaking with; here's hoping (hah!) it goes as well, if not better, than his meeting with Tranquility.

It still feels ridiculous to call out to the four walls though.]

Hope. My name is Danse. I arrived a month ago. If you have the time to spare, I'd like to ask you a few questions.

[Hope doesn't appear immediately, but he does appear. He looks like he'd rather be doing something else - or maybe like he should be doing something else, but has allowed himself to be called away.]

Fair enough. I'll keep it as brief as possible. [Danse knows a busy person when he sees one.]

You and Delight once approached the Door and tried to learn enough of it to send the inhabitants of Hadriel back. I'd like to know why. If you and Delight had succeeded then there would have been no one left here to give you the power you needed to resurrect the remainder of your kind. In fact, there would be no one left to give any of you any kinds of emotion.

Some of you wanted to stay here - they still do, as far as I am aware. My hope was that we could send those of you who hate it here and constantly complain home, and keep the ones who wanted to stay. It would have meant less power, but in the long run, if we continued doing it, a far more stable population.

However, it failed.

Was it because you and Delight did not have enough power?

More power might have helped, but it was because we did not - and still do not - know how the Door works.

And if I've heard right, then the only one among you who has a decent understanding of the Door is Sorrow.

[Fat luck getting Sorrow to cooperate with them. Danse lets out a slight sigh.]

Is there anything we can do to convince Sorrow to share his knowledge of the Door with you and Delight?

For that, you should speak to Sorrow directly. However, after our failure, the general reaction of the populace to it, and Sorrow's entirely justified disapproval, we won't be trying again.

So you won't be trying to send us home anymore? Or you won't be trying to figure out the Door?
